Matt Stone and Trey Parker, creators of the hit series South Park,  signed a contract to produce a new live-action TV show.  The show was announced as "Family First" in 2000, then later renamed "First Family" in 2001.  This was before the huge presidential election of 2000.  The boys knew they wanted to make a TV show staring the president, but because of the election, Matt and Trey did not know if they were going to be making a show staring Al Gore, or George W. Bush.  Rumor has it that Trey wrote a script called "Absolutely Al", where there is a robot whom is exactly like Gore in every way, and people were not able to tell the difference.  This was not filmed though, and the script was quickly disposed of after the election.  Once George W. Bush won the election, Matt Stone and Trey Parker immediately went on to produce their show.  They called it "That's My Bush!", and within minutes after Bush won the election, Comedy Central had a new comercial on their channel advertising the show.

The show premeired on April 4, 2001.  The show was Comedy Central's biggest premier ever, but that did not mean people liked it.  The day after the episode first aired, people were ranting that they hated it and abandoned it after seeing the first episode.  Comedy Central continued to air "That's My Bush!" for a total of eight episodes.  After that, Comedy Central ran reruns for a few months.  Then, because of the tragic events of September 11th, Comedy Central quietly took the show off the air.  This was because Comedy Central deemed it inappropriate to broadcast the show during such a crisis.

Later that month, Comedy Central announced they had put the boot to the show and they would not make any new episodes.  At the same time, Matt Stone and Trey Parker announced that they were not done with the series.  They begun writing a script for a movie staring George W. called "George W. Bush and the Secret of the Glass Tiger."  However, as time past, Matt and Trey said they would end up not producing the movie.
